Overall, 72 places around the UK were given such recognition, all divided by region, and Morpeth and Tynmouth were both named in the ‘North and NorthEast of England’ regional list. The winner of this region was Ilkley in West Yorkshire.
The list was compiled using a combination of factors that contribute to the overall quality of life, and this year included broadband and mobile connectivity for the first time.
